At present, preservatives mainly include CCA, ACQ and CAB. The main component of CCA is copper arsenic, and the main component of activated carbon is ammonia-soluble alkylamine copper. Our long-term experience tells us that wood treated with CCA can be used in various harsh outdoor environments and is an ideal wood protection chemical preservative. Due to the extremely low arsenic content in CCA and the recent psychological concerns about its health risks, the United States stopped using CCA-treated wood (except for industrial and environmental issues) on January 1, 2004. But at the same time, the US authority also made it clear that there is no scientific evidence to prove that CCA is harmful to human health. CCA is one of the preservatives that can be applied in the industry standards for anticorrosive wood applications to be promulgated in China. The main chemical component of ACQ is an alkyl copper ammonium compound. It does not contain arsenic, chromium and other chemicals, has no adverse impact on the environment, and will not cause harm to people, animals and plants. This treatment method is considered to be an effective alternative to CCA, but experiments have shown that ACQ is not as stable as CCA and is more likely to be lost. The current cost is also nearly 20% higher than CCA.
